Lac de Gaube is a glacial lake in the French Pyrenees, in the department of the Hautes-Pyrénées, near the town of Cauterets. The lake sits at 1,725m in the centre of a steep-sided valley at the foot of the Vignemale. Over 2km of crystal clear shoreline make the lake ideal for hiking or perfect as a picnic spot. The lake can be accessed by a 1 hour hike through the forest, or by cable car from the Pont d'Espagne in the valley of Cauterets. Pont d'Espagne is a stone-built bridge that spans the Gave de Marcadau at the point where it meets the Gave de Gaube. Cauterets is a is a picturesque 30 minutes drive from LeBelvedere.
